Meghnad Saha Biography Writing In English
Meghnad Saha was a great scientist, educationist and a patriot. He was born in a poor family at Scoratali in Dacca on October 6, 1893. His father was Jagannath Saha who was a poor man. He got his school education from the village Primary School, Simulia English School and Dacca Collegiate School.
He was a brilliant student. He stood 3rd in Entrance Examination, 2nd in B.Sc Honours and Ist in M.Sc from Presidency College and DSC from London University.

He taught at the University of Calcutta as Khaira Professor and at Allahabad University from 1923 – 38 and again at the University of Calcutta as Palit Professor. His subject for research was ‘ Theory of Thermal Relativity, Pressure of Light, Astrophysics and Theory of Thermal Ionisation. He became F.R.S. in 1927, President of Science Congress in 1934 and became a Member of Parliament in 1952.
He founded the National Institute of Sciences, Indian Physical Society and National Academy of Science. He was a patriot. He had close contact with the revolutionaries like Baghajatin, Pulin Das and other revolutionaries. He died on February 16, 1956, while he was going to attend a meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
