Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar Short Paragraph। Biography।

Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar was a great educationist. He was also a social reformer. He was born on September 26, 1820, at Birsingha in Midnapore.

His father’s name was Thakurdas Bandyopadhyay. His mother’s name was Bhagabati Devi.

He got his early education at village Pathsala. After his early education, he was admitted to Sanskrit College. Later he became a teacher. And then he became Principal of the same college. Sometimes he worked as a college inspector.

He founded many schools. He took an active part in abolishing ‘satidah’ and ‘child marriage’. Eventually, he abolished ‘satidah’ and ‘child marriage’. He also started widow marriage.

He was a vastly learned man so he was called ‘ Vidyasagar ‘. He was also an ocean of kindness. So he was called ‘ Dayar Sagar ‘.

Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar passed away in 1891 at the age of seventy one.
